Welcome to Finding Funding for Projects Based in Africa

This course is designed to teach essential concepts to those who are new or less experienced in grant seeking.

Through this course you will:

  • Find out what works and what doesn't when contacting potential donors located in the United States and elsewhere

  • Learn about different sources of funding for projects in Africa and which ones might be best for your organization

  • Understand the core skills required to have a successful grant-seeking effort


Who Should Take This Course: While much of the content is relevant to nonprofits located anywhere in the world, we created this course particularly for individuals who work for charitable, community-based organizations located in an African country. The course is designed to provide an understanding of how the grant world operates and where to seek grant funding. 

Prerequisites: No background knowledge of grant proposal writing or grant funding is required for this course. This course requires a significant amount of reading. If English is not your native language, please note that the course content is written at a secondary school reading level.
